  • People Helper Course (Part 1)

    Start Date: To be confirmed

This 8-week course aims to up-skill people in our church to effectively and confidently assist family, friends, and others who may need our help in every-day circumstances and settings. As a qualified trainer, Rod Bullpitt will help you understand, develop and practice many helpful skills and techniques that are common to all competent people helpers:

Paying attention, empathising, responding, self-disclosure, immediacy, being specific, managing confrontation, teaching, using action plans, and referral and closure.

However, some practices are distinctively Christian and are used with some frequency when meeting with people who are hurting. Examples include prayer, reading from the Bible, gentle confrontation with Christian truths, or encouraging counselees to become involved in a local church or with other groups of believers.

With some optional extra homework, this course can attract government recognition from Malyon Vocational Training as part of their Cert IV CMT Caring for People module.

Contact Rod Bullpitt via the Church Office if you are interested or submit an enquiry.
