The Wynnum Baptist Cricket team was formed in 2008 as a Ministry to Men. The team continues to be part of the Churches Cricket Association of Queensland (CCAQ), through which they play against 8- 10 teams each season with games in either 35 over or 2 day (over 2 weekends) format. The highlight of the 2013-14 season was winning the Division 2 Premiership for the 2 day competition.
Wynnum Baptist Cricket team has a reputation as one of the best behaved and most friendly teams within the CCAQ competition. We seek to play competitive cricket in a way that exemplifies good sportsmanship, fostering a relaxed environment in which men can both build friendships and fitness. Beyond the statistics and the results put down in black and white, the players and supporters gain much fun and enjoyment from both the pursuit of the game (whatever the result) and team camaraderie.
The team also stages some social events and an annual awards presentation to help connect with not only the players, but their families and friends. The continued goal of this ministry is to build on the foundation that has been made, deepening friendships between men and providing a witness in the non-threatening environment of recreational sport.
