The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is an Australian Government funded program established to promote links between people living in an aged care home and the wider community. The object of the Community Visitors Scheme is to provide one-to-one volunteer visitors to residents of Australian Government funded Residential Aged Care Homes who are socially isolated or lonely, and whose quality of life would be improved by friendship and companionship.
Wynnum Baptist Church is the sponsoring organisation for the Community Visitors Scheme. It commenced in February 1992 with 15 approved visitors and now approval for 92 visitors.
The Scheme is an initiative of the Australian Government and is funded through the Department of Health and Ageing. It is a community based Scheme and invites participants from a diversity of ages, backgrounds and cultures.
