About CVS
The object of the Community Visitors Scheme is to provide one on one volunteer visitors to residents of Australian Government funded aged care home, who are socially isolated and whose quality of life would be improved by friendship and compassion.
We were established in 1992 and have over 100 volunteer visitors providing friendship and compassions with residents in 16 residential care homes.
The scheme operates throughout Australia.

Why become a Community Visitor?
To increase a resident’s self esteem or general feeling of well being.
Help diminish their feelings of depression and anxiety.
Increase their sense of purpose.
Help them feel cared for and/or connected to the community.
Reduce their feeling of loneliness and isolation.
Help them have a sense of achievement through participation in a one-to-one relationship.
What do community Visitors do?
Visit with a genuine empathy and understanding of older people.
Visit with a communicative and listening attitude.
Visit with an ability to visit independently.
Be committed to your fortnightly visit – minimum 6 visits per 3 months.
Be as flexible as possible.
